How much does it cost to have a towbar fitted?

Whilst we can’t profess to be the cheapest quote, we believe we give the best overall value for money package.
Over the years we’ve had many vehicles in our workshop with lighting issues.
More often than not this is due to poor and even dangerous wiring installation.

Which towbar is best for me?

The choice really is yours. We will guide you along the way depending on your requirements.
If your vehicle has reverse parking sensors, we would usually advise to have a detachable towbar as this can easily be taken off when not in use.
Fixed flange and swan neck towbars are perfectly fine. However, there is always a risk of the parking sensors constantly picking up the tow ball even if you do not have anything connected!
Unfortunately there’s no way around this issue, but the difference between a fixed and detachable bar is around £80-£100. 

What type of towbar electrics do I need?

Modern vehicles are extremely complex, so it’s a good thing to use dedicated electrics.
This ensures the vehicle’s on board computer system understands what has been fitted, and can make any required safety adjustments.
If towing a trailer or a bike rack, then 7 pin electrics will do the trick.
If you are towing a caravan, you can benefit from 13 pin electrics. This will allow you to charge the leisure battery and fridge!
Many older vehicles can have non dedicated electrics fitted with a “smart bypass” relay. If we do this, we solder all our electrical connections, rather than “scotch lock” connections. We’ve had to fix many vehicles wired this way over the years, and it really isn’t a great long term option!
